The founder, John, has had a love for the lifestyle, methods and taste of barbecue since he was a kid. Being born and raised in Southern Tennessee, barbecue was more than just food; It stood as a means to gather with friends and family and kept you honest. As he grew up, and became interested in cooking, barbecue became his main interest. When he got his first smoker, a Weber Smokey Mountain, He quickly learned that barbecue was something you cannot rush and demanded perfection. He fires up his smoker regularly and is on the constant hunt for improvement. BBQ Southern was founded from this passion and love of barbecue and seeks to provide a sense of value, community and learning to its readers.
